Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart are on the verge of g German keeper Jens Lehman in a move which will see Lehman return to after a 5 year absence according to Sky Sports.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed to the press that Lehaman’s appearance against Everton on the last day was his last game for Arsenal, and the German was set to leave the club as a free agent once his contract had expired.

Stuttgart were on of the numerous clubs said to be chasing the goalkeeper and Sky Sports claims that the German side have now put an offer to Lehman. Most clubs have been put off by the shot-stopper’s high wage demands.

Stuttgart’s chairman Erwin Staudt its that Stuttgart are one of these clubs who cannot afford his wage bill and it is believed that Stuttgart will offer Lehman around two-thirds of his current Arsenal salary to them.

However, Staudt remains confident that Lehman will soon arrive at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion saying: “This will hopefully be made concrete in the next few days. It is not a straightforward conversation, there are options to be discussed.”
