According to the Corriere dello Sport, Juventus have rejected a transfer bid from Wolfsburg for 28-year-old, Italian striker Vincenzo Iaquinta. However, AS Roma is reportedly ready to launch an offer of their own. Roma coach Luciano Spalletti, is a huge irer of Iaquinta, having successfully coached him at Udinese in the past.
Wolfsburg, funded by Volkswagen, is one of the most ambitious teams in , and they have signaled their intentions for the future by surprisingly g Palermo’s highly-rated Italian international defenders Cristian Zaccardo and Andrea Barzagli.
The Corriere report says that they failed in their attempts to buy a third Italian international, when Juventus rejected an undisclosed bid for Iaquinta.
Having only signed for Juventus last summer, and despite a good debut season, he was quite frustrated to be a substitute for the prolific pair of David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero. Iaquinta made just nine starts in Serie A all campaign, and the arrival of Brazilian Amauri from Palermo, has made it look quite likely that he will leave this summer.
