Man Utd confirm deal to sign Cunha from Wolves

Manchester United have announced that they have reached an agreement with Wolves to sign Matheus Cunha.

The Brazilian is set to become the first g of the transfer window for Ruben Amorim, after the club reportedly triggered a £62.5million release clause.

Cunha will sign a five-year contract with the Red Devils, with the option to extend for a further 12 months.

United also confirmed the g is subject to visa and registration, with the deal expected to be completed later this month after Cunha returns from international duty. He was in Manchester over the weekend to complete a medical.

Cunha signed a contract extension with Wolves in February and spent two-and-a-half years at the club, making 92 appearances in all competitions.

In 2024-25, the 26-year-old made 33 Premier League appearances, finishing the league campaign with a team-high 15 goals. He also ed six assists, the second-most among the team.

Cunha also created 57 chances, more than any of his team-mates, and had 110 shots (44 on target), more than any of the United players managed.

United are looking to improve after recording their worst-ever Premier League finish of 15th. They also scored just 44 goals in 38 league games, with only Everton (42), Ipswich Town (36), Leicester City (33) and Southampton (26) scoring fewer.
