According to Fabrizio Romano, Darwin Nunez is set to leave Liverpool this summer, with several clubs from the Saudi Pro League, as well as Napoli, pursuing the Uruguayan striker.
Nunez ed the Reds as an exciting attacking prospect in 2022 for €85million, but it’s fair to say that he’s failed to live up to expectations imposed by such a fee paid for his services. In all competitions, he’s made a total of 143 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool, scoring 40 goals and contributing 26 assists. These numbers obviously aren’t as bad as fame makes it and some of his goals were absolutely crucial, but the fact that he’s wasted an incredible number of clear-cut chances is undeniable.
Saudi side Al-Hilal have recently given up on their pursuit of Victor Osimhen due to being unable to agree personal with the Nigerian, and they’re apparently considering Nunez as an alternative target. Napoli, still Osimhen’s parent club, have recently made to express their own interest in the 25-year-old Liverpool man, and talks between all parties are expected to take place in the coming days.
🚨🇺🇾 Darwin Nunez remains guaranteed exit at Liverpool this summer with Saudi Pro League clubs keen since January.
Understand also Napoli have made in the recent days with Nunez on the shortlist and more talks to follow soon.
