Omar Marmoush has completed his move from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt to defending Premier League champions Manchester City.

The fee paid by Manchester City is a reported £59 million plus add-ons for the striker, who is seen by many as their replacement for Julian Alvarez who left for Atletico Madrid in summer.

The Egypt international has signed a four-and-a-half year deal at the Etihad Stadium and is the club’s third January g after Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov.

Marmoush comes to the club having scored 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances this season, while he was with Frankfurt for just 18 months after g on a free transfer in July 2023 from Werder Bremen.

The 25-year-old can operate anywhere across the front three and, given that he has also ed nine assists, has more goal involvements (24) than any other Bundesliga player this season.

Speaking about the move, he was clearly excited to make the step up for a bigger challenge.

“I’m so happy to be here,” he said. “Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world over the past 10 years, so it was not a question.

“It is an honour the club showed an interest in me and now I’m here. The last two seasons have been great, but it is just the beginning for me.

“I’ve played many positions. For the national team I am playing left wing most of the time. At my former club, I was playing No 9, sometimes at 10 and also an eight.

“I’ve also played on the right wing, so I think I can play in all the positions, but I feel most comfortable behind the striker in the No 10 position where the way to the goal is quicker – or shorter I should say – so I am comfortable in all positions.

“My main strength I would say is that I always want to win – that is from a character point of view.

“On the pitch, I am fast, good on the ball, I try to see where the spaces are and exploit the spaces – and I’m dangerous.”
